Dan Williams (born September 11, 1956) grew up in Hickory Grove, just outside of Charlotte, NC.
"I started playing guitar at seventeen and harmonica soon after. I really enjoy writing story songs.
I picture the events in my mind, and then try to put them into words.
The songs I really like listening to are the ones I can relate to, because I know how the songwriter felt when they wrote it.
My debut album 'Dan Williams' came out in 2003. I recorded it in a large studio with some studio musicians.
My second album, 'Songs About The Civil War' was recorded in 2005. It has some traditional songs, but most of the songs are about my confederate ancestors. I became interested in those stories when my cousin wrote a book about our family. In that book, there were a few Civil War stories that really intrigued me. In order to accurately write about, and capture the feel of the stories, I visited several Civil War battle sites that my ancestors fought at."
Dan's music is a mixture of folk, country, and Americana. His songs feature moving melodies, rhythmic anthems, and touching lyrics.
Sadly, Dan passed away November 21, 2020. He leaves behind a lasting musical legacy that will undoubtedly touch lives for years to come.
